Start-ups and companies planning to expand in Latin America can now apply for the Brazil Tech Award- a prize worth over EUR 80,000, and that is supported by companies such as Deloitte and WeWork.
On Thursday, June 6, an introductory event to the Brazil Tech Award will take place in Berlin (WeWork at Kürfurstendamm 11, on the seventh floor), where interested companies can find out more about the Brazilian economy and the competition itself. Admission to the event is free of charge. You can register in advance here.
The Brazil Tech Award celebrates its premiere
Brazil is becoming more attractive for innovation industries, which means the initiative of the Brazil Tech Award has arrived at just the right time. The competition is intended to help European companies in their expansion efforts in the Brazilian and Latin American markets.
The Prize
The award is worth over EUR 80,000 and is presented in the form of various business services: business development and accounting support from Deloitte and Sterna, legal and marketing support from Eydos digital, special coaching from Sapovalova, public relations support from GrupoCASA UK and job opportunities provided by WeWork. Sandra Sinicco, member of the organisation team has emphasized how much the initiative is intended to support companies with their expansion plans in Latin America: “With the help of the Brazil Tech Award, they will find the best starting conditions here”.
The prospective winner will be in good hands: Brazil is home to the world’s seventh largest IT market and São Paulo is one of the country’s largest economic centers. There, for example, Microsoft established the Microsoft Technology Center (MTC), the largest technology and innovation center in Latin America.
Who can participate?
The Brazil Tech Award is aimed at European start-ups and companies that are currently growing and want to expand in Brazil and Latin America. An annual turnover or annual investment of at least 1 million US dollars is required. Participating companies should also be active in one of the following industries: Smart Cities, FinTech, AgriTech, Production or Creative Tech. Another important criterion is for the founders to still hold the majority or 100 percent of the equity capital. The participation fee is the equivalent of 113 EUR.
The application process
The competition is divided into three phases: After the application deadline of 30 August 2019, a jury consisting of ten Brazilian experts will select six participants for the next round. The second phase will start on September 20, 2019: All selected companies will receive a free mentoring program from experts. The final round of the Brazil Tech Award 2019 will then take place as part of São Paulo Tech Week. This event is one of the highlights in the business metropolis of São Paulo. Here, the six remaining companies have to convince the jury in three-minute pitches. After the pitch round, the winner will be chosen.
The first Brazil Tech Award 2019 is supported by various well-known companies and institutions, including Deloitte, WeWork, the British Department for International Trade, Softex, SendPulse and F6S.
